The Sleepless CEO: Making the Case for a Good Night's Rest
By Amrit Chaudhuri
When Arianna Huffington launched Thrive Global, she asked me to contribute an essay after we met at an event and spoke about the culture of burnout among executives. I shared my belief that the same rigor and structure we apply to scientific systems should also govern how we manage ourselves, especially when leading complex ventures.
Founding Mass Innovation Labs taught me that focus, decision quality, and innovation all depend on recovery. The myth of the sleepless entrepreneur is counterproductive: true endurance comes from rhythm, not exhaustion. For scientists and executives alike, sustainable performance requires both precision and rest.
